2014 Marisco The Ned - Sauvingnon Blanc

2014 Marisco The Ned - Sauvingnon Blanc

Region: New Zealand, Marlborough

Grape: Sauvignon Blanc

Tasting notes (from the winemaker): Saturated aromas of passionfruit, lime zest, and pink grapefruit dominate the subtle signature of Waihopai minerality - a lovely combination of citrus based bath salts and warm river stone.  Palate: crisp and fruit focused whilst bright acid edges add length, structure, and an overall sense of liveliness. Whilst classically matched with most seafood why not push the boundaries and try it with a twice baked Chevre souffle (cheese) served with an arugula, apple, and walnut salad.

From the distributor: The 260 ha Waihopai Valley Vineyard is compiled of vertical shoot positioned cane pruned vines, at 2500 plants per hectare. The soil is ancient riverbed comprised of free draining stony silt and loam topsoil. The warm days and cool nights provide perfect growing conditions. Cooler evening temperatures slow the fruit development which has further enhanced the aromatic expression, minerality and balance of the wines. All of the wines are produced in a “New Generation” Winery using temperature controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks. We carefully select yeast strains chosen for their ability to capture the true essence of Sauvignon Blanc.
